For every ONE pound of extra weight you carry, your knees feel FIVE pounds of weight. It is no wonder obesity has been linked with early joint and back problems. Overweight people are up to five times more likely to develop arthritis compared to normal weight people. A little bit of weight loss would help tremendously in reducing damage to your joints over time. Losing some weight has also shown to reduce the joint pain felt from arthritis. A reasonable start if you are overweight would be to set a goal of 10% weight loss and progress from there.
